The MCRD Museum Foundation was founded in 1988. The Foundation is an independent not-for-profit 501 (c) 3 public benefit corporation, incorporated by the State of California. The Foundation’s mission is to promote the historical role of the United States Marine Corps and the men and women who have served as Marines, with an emphasis on the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego. It accomplishes this mission by raising funds in its capacity as a nonprofit organization, developing educational programs to promote and preserve the history of the Corps, awarding educational scholarships, and operating a robust volunteer program consisting of highly talented docents and other skilled volunteers who contribute immeasurably to the Foundation’s mission.
The MCRD Command Museum has developed significantly and today is considered a world-class military museum. This growth and development are a direct result of the support and contributions by the MCRD Museum Foundation.
